Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
CDW/SCDW, or Collision Damage Waiver/Super Collision Damage Waiver, refers to the car rental company waiving its right to consider you fully liable for the damages to the rental car while you have it. The insurance covers most of the damage leaving you with a set self-risk amount that you are liable for.
CDW/SCDW won´t cover damage related to tires, water damage, windscreen or wind damage.

SCDW: 120.000 ISK
Premium Insurance Package
Enjoy the trip knowing that your insurances are fully covered. Premium Protection package (PIP) reduces your excess amount to ZERO in case of damage to the vehicle caused by collision, sand storm and gravel. It also protects for damage to windscreen, tires and body parts.
This insurance package includes: CDW, SCDW; TI, TP, TPL, GP and SAA.
Price per day: 4.990 ISK
Medium Insurance Package (MIP)
Medium Protection package reduces your excess amount (self risk amount) to 120.000 ISK in case of damage to the vehicle caused by collision. It also protects for damage to windscreen, tires and body parts. This package includes, CDW, SCDW, GP and SAA.
Front window excess: 20.000 ISK
S&A excess: 90.000 ISK
Price per day: 3.790 ISK
Gravel protection (GP)
With the high number of gravel roads in IcelandI, it may lead to lose rocks and pebbles to hit the vehicle. With Gravel Protection This protection includes damage to the front headlights, and the front of the car when gravel or rocks get thrown on the vehicle by another vehicle.
Front window excess: MIP: 20.000ISK PIP: 0 ISK
Sand and ash (SAA)
Sand and ash protection covers the vehicle for damages caused sand storm or rocks being blown and damaging the car.
Excess: MIP: 90.000ISK, PIP: 0ISK
Tire insurance (TI)
With tire insurance your tires and wheels are covered. If the renter can not change the wheel and needs roadside assistance or if the car needs to be transported the cost of the transportation/ roadside assistance is not included.
Thef Protection (TP)
Theft protection covers the theft of the vehicle, it does not cover items inside of the vehicle. Excess: 0 ISK
Third party liability
Third party liability is equivalent to the amount stipulated by Icelandic law at each time. This also applies to the amount of individual driver liability. Third-party coverage and personal accident insurance is included in your rental.
